Deep Water

Over my head
In too deep
I’m in so far
I can’t breathe
Anymore

Heigh Ho

Working on reframing this site and building two additional sites from the ground up means I’ve totally neglected posting here. Forgive me :-)

New album is currently in production, which is more exciting than these lines can contain and it’s getting its own site — be patient a minute longer. You’re gonna love the studio footage and behind the scenes scoop on bringing an album to life. I’m sure loving doing it.

So, hello, again, and I can hardly wait for the invitation to the rest to be ready –

Beginning, Again

Seems like something’s always ending —
A song, a love, a season –

His childhood or her dancer’s twirl

And I see leaves fall all around

Small things get big and then dust again

Maybe when it comes to this world, it wasn’t just made, it is made again

Kiss me again — let’s begin

Air and Water

Feeling in between these days — missing the salty, restoring ocean and nearly constantly looking toward the sky, daydreaming about wind currents and cloud patterns. Walking the ground just isn’t lift or flow. Soon –

Higher

Last night we finished writing the fifth song for an album project! Looking like a 5-track EP (maybe a bonus track or two) of our favorite material. Been looking forward to bringing this music to life and sending it out into the world and now we’re closer. Will release album title and its own domain in the Spring.

Excited, too, to make our video project much more real also. Back on track to scout some locations, take photos and begin the artwork. This Year means something special to both of us, and it’s time.

Some of the Coolest People I Know Are Artists

Been thinking a lot about a community of artists: writers, painters, musicians…creatives! Wishing I lived in Paris in the 1920s — or New England in the 1890s — anywhere artists gathered and worked and experimented and questioned and lived.

Let’s start one.

Writing Poetry about Writing Music

So, we write together pretty consistently twice a week, and each time we are together for many hours. It’s been a year of this. Longer on a less regular schedule. And, the other night, while writing lyrics, I couldn’t stop myself from writing these lines all down the narrow margin of the same page. (for more poems –)

He Sings (Feb. 2012)

There you are
Bent
Searching
Eyes closed
I hear you breathe in
Creases in your fingers
From those unyielding strings
Yielding
I can feel it on my skin
The chords vibrate through me
As the music comes in
Bent shoulders and strings
Another breath in
And then he sings

Always Moving

I haven’t been able to write anything that I think would move beyond those last words of Rumi that I posted. And, now, I look to see it’s been almost TWO WEEKS, a nearly unforgivable amount of time in the blogosphere.

So, let’s start with Rumi — he says, “sell your cleverness; buy bewilderment.”

Man, what can I say after **that?**
